We are hiring a Job Share Custodian/Maintenance person

POSITION:  Custodian/Maintenance  (Background Check & Drug Screening Required)

CLASSIFICATION:  Job Share; Exempt

REPORTS TO:  Office Manager

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL: Probationary appraisal after 90 days; annually in January thereafter

SCHEDULED WORK WEEK:  16-20 hrs. week days/ Sundays 8:30 am-12:30 pm (2 required per month)

OVERVIEW

The Custodian/Maintenance person’s responsibility is to perform a variety of custodial duties, ensuring a clean, safe environment of the interior of the Presbyterian Church of Wyoming. They will ensure cleanliness of interior of the church to include: deep cleaning/sanitizing of the preschool area and cleaning of the sanctuary, offices, restrooms, and common areas, waxing of floors and vacuuming carpet on a maintenance scheduled basis. They will also perform a variety of maintenance duties ensuring the security, safety, and good condition and functionality of the entire building and grounds of the Presbyterian Church of Wyoming.  The custodian/ maintenance person’s focus will be:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Servicing and sanitizing of the preschool area to include – counter surfaces, cabinets, children/staff furniture, & floors, with proper use of over-the-counter & industrial strength cleaning chemicals
  • Safely mix and store cleaning chemicals according to specifications & regulations of cleaning product
  • Complete deep cleaning on a scheduled basis
  • Servicing, sanitizing, cleaning and stocking all restrooms to include stalls, toilets, urinals, sinks, trash bins, soap dispensers, etc. & polishing fixtures
  • Clean building floors: sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, & vacuuming. Waxing/buffing as needed
  • Clean interior glass on windows, doors, and mirrors
  • Polish furniture
  • Clear/dispose of trash & debris inside of building
  • Set up/take down required/requested equipment/furniture & ensure cleanliness of areas prior to scheduled events
  • Inspect buildings, grounds, equipment & systems (such as HVAC, etc.) to identify issues
  • Perform perimeter security checks, lock doors, turn off lights, & check restrooms for running faucets
  • Restore building interiors damaged by normal wear & tear, i.e. touch up paint, sanding/staining
  • Complete minor repairs including replacing ballasts & light bulbs, & minor plumbing repairs
  • Mow lawn, pruning, edging, & yard upkeep
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, & supplies manually or with the use of dollies
  • Take out recycling to the curb (weekly)
  • Available for building emergencies
  • Occasional trips to pick up building supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned under the direction of the Office Manager or Pastors

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in custodial work
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC & plumbing
  • Experience using hand & electrical tools
  • Physical stamina & dexterity
  • Ability to work within small and large groups and effectively communicate with others.

PAY RANGE: $20-22/hour
