How are you called?

October 28, 2009

Every day we hear calls in our life.  The phone rings, new email chimes ring, knocks echo on our doors, IM & TXT notifications chirp, and people shout our names.  In the midst, how do we hear God’s still, small voice in the midst?  Elijah, when hiding in the desert, heard the noises of a great wind, an earthquake, and a fire but God’s voice was not in those.  Instead, Elijah heard God’s voice in the utter silence that followed (1 Kings 19).  It’s true that its difficult to hear the voice of God at times in our life, but to hear the call of God, we need to take deliberate steps to hear.  We are a few weeks into a sermon series on what it means to be called and how God calls.  Last week, we heard the story of Shiphrah and Puah from Exodus 1 in how they responded with courage in hearing God’s call.  This week, we will enter into the story of Esther and how timing fits into God’s call in our lives.

Picking up the Call

October 22, 2009

While our “introduction” to Be the Church is behind us, we will continue to focus on several other aspects of what it means to Be the Church in our lives.  For the next several weeks, we’ll be exploring the stories of several people of faith and their responses to God’s call in their lives.  As we hear these stories, reflect upon your own story.  How have you experienced God’s call in your life?

God is at work! Share your stories!

October 13, 2009

Wow – what a wonderful day Sunday was as we shared what it means to Be the Church in the many service opportunities we were a part of following our commissioning.  The scripture for Sunday morning came from Luke 10:17-20 when the seventy returned with the news that indeed God did work through them.  They celebrated and shared their stories.  It is our turn to do the same.  Please share your stories in one of several ways – you can email them to the PCW Mission Team (missions@pcwyoming.org), drop them off at the church office, or you can visit the Share Your Story section of the Mission Team’s website.  As people write their stories, you can view what people have shared here.  Please share your stories so we can together celebrate the ways that Jesus is at work in and through us.  Here are some pictures of what took place last Sunday

Be The Church – 7 Days and Everyday

October 4, 2009

A week from today! We will gather here at 8:45 to worship and be commissioned to serve the rest of the morning – raking leaves, giving a playset to a family in need, sending packages to servicemen and servicewomen, sending soccer balls to children, making food for support organizations, working with Habitat, ministering to people at Evergreen, making pancakes for the Drop In Center, and so much more. What a wonderful morning it is going to be in experiencing the reality of God’s work in our lives and through each of us!

While we are calling next Sunday “Be the Church Sunday” – the reality is that we are called to BE the church each and every day of our lives. So, wherever you are and in whatever you do today and each day, remember that YOU are Jesus’ witness. That is great news on a beautiful Sunday morning.

Join us for Worship

We worship every Sunday with three services. We have two services in our Sanctuary that follow a traditional style of worship. These services are at 8:00a and 11:00a.
We also worship in our Great Room for our Visions service 9:00a in a more casual, contemporary style of worship.
All are welcome!
